Film Outline

The film will begin in the perspective of a man(Gabe) who has been tied up and trapped in the trunk of a car. Sounds from outside of the car will be heard and lead up to the killer(Gavin) opening the trunk to make sure Gabe’s wrists are tightly bound. As Gavin is about to close the trunk the scene will transition into a flashback of how Gabe got put into that situation. The scene will show Gavin and Gabe back when they attended the same school. Gabe had always bullied and made fun of Gavin because he had always been the odd kid out. Gavin promised to take revenge on all those who made fun of him when he was younger and when he turns 21, Gabe is the first target. The scene will then transition back to the present as we now see Gavin outside of the car. In this scene, Gavin will be acting suspiciously in a parking lot when a police officer(Justin) will go towards him to investigate the strange behavior. Gavin will then kill Justin in order to prevent being caught and so nobody will know. At this point the focus will shift to a new character, a detective(Sam) who has been tasked with finding who is the cause for all the killings taking place and take him down. Sam will always be one step behind Gavin, as Sam and his right hand man always arrive at the scene minutes after Gavin has already left the scene. After coming close countless times, Sam finally catches Gavin. As he is approaching him, ready to place him under arrest, Gavin reveals that he set a trap for Sam’s right hand man has been taken hostage by Gavin and that Sam only has seven minutes to save him. Sam must choose between saving his partner in crime or catching the killer he had been chasing for so long. Sam finally decides to go save his friend and Gavin escapes once again. Sam races to the location of his partner but arrives seconds too late as upon arriving at the scene, the entire building had been engulfed in flames and collapsed. Enraged by the death of his right hand, Sam pledges to stop at nothing until Gavin is caught. A week passes and Sam has tracked Gavin to a secluded warehouse on the outskirts of town. Sam makes his way through the building until, to his surprise, finds Gavin waiting for him. Sam continues toward Gavin until they are face to face. After exchanging words regarding Gavin’s motives and Sam’s mission to bring him into custody, Sam is suddenly struck from behind. When he looks up, he sees his old partner in crime standing over him which shocks Sam entirely. At this point Sam had come to the realization that Gavin and his old partner had been working together the entire time as it shows flashbacks of his partner doing things that could relate to him joining with Gavin. Heartbroken by coming to this conclusion, Sam does not resist when Gavin and his old partner tie him up and cast him into the ocean. The final scene will be a shot through the perspective of Sam sinking in the water while looking up to see Gavin and his old partner looking down on him. Just like in the opening scene of how Gavin shut the trunk on Gabe in the beginning.

Film Pitch

Gavin Bogdanchik, Sam Tobin, Justin Henry, Gabe Mayle

Genre: Thriller/Action

Pitch: The movie will be about a serial killer who is taking revenge on his bullies from the past. The intro scene is how the movie ends but doesn’t actually show it then after a little of the end scene it plays the whole movie from the beginning. Throughout the whole movie there will be flashbacks of the killers past of him getting bullied. Once those flashbacks happen he will kill his bully and have his revenge. Little does the killer know is that one of his bullies is now a detective who is trying to capture him and put him in jail. They will eventually meet up at the end while the killer has been outsmarting the detective the whole time and finally the detective outsmarts the killer. Who knows if the killer escaped or died while trying.

Preliminary Task 2: Revisions

Throughout our music video various editing and feedback has been provided to my group in order to improve our video. After the class viewing, we received constructive criticism on what to change in our video. Some of these issues were the angle of the end scene with the commitment that we fixed and also the continuity of the switched cars and now only used one car. We also cut some of the scenes short to remove some of the stalled time in the video.

The first thing we fixed was the continuity of the cars in the video. In the moment we completely forgot but it is now fixed with our refilming we have done recently. We now only used one car with the same low angle in the scene though.

Also, the angle in the ending shot was offset and was to the left which did not follow the Rule of Thirds rule. We fixed this by setting the camera up straight so that all of us are in the middle and put the main focus on the main character.

Lastly, we had to cut some of this stalled time where in the scene it was just open space or for example this house that was in the scene for way too long. We fixed it by editing it more and cutting the scenes shorter to get rid of those useless parts in the scene. This made the scenes awkward also and weird so that is also why we had to trim the scenes.

Preliminary Task 2: Feedback

After having a class viewing of our Hussle and Motivate music video,  my group and I learned a substantial amount of information on how well we filmed and put together our music video.

Throughout the music video we portrayed the struggle and grind of a person who is trying to pursue college baseball and what he had to go through. We used many shots and angles of our resources such as Hussle and Motivate video when Nipsey is on the car and they used tracking to follow him as we used it in the running scene.

The constructive criticism we received was fixing the car scenes as it messes with the continuity of the video from transferring from the Ford F150 to the Mazda. We need to redo our final shot also as it is uneven and is not following the Rule of Thirds format. Also need to redo and film the kitchen seen as there is a distracting object in the way of the main character eating also lacking the Rule of Thirds format.
